YOU’VE NO DOUBT HEARD THE OLD story about the husband who displays his mother-in-law’s giant portrait—the one she gave the family one Christmas—whenever she visits … and then stores it away immediately upon her departure. Mother’s intentions were probably good, but her esthetics left much to be desired. Buying a gift of art—whether a photo, painting, or sculpture—is a tricky thing at best. The photo shown here cannot do justice to the craftsmanship of the woodwork; nor, of course, can it allow you to hear the clear-as-a-bell tones of “Joy to the World”. As for the painting beneath the glass of the lid, each is a giclee on acid-free water color paper, which means it carries all the character, color, and fine detail of the artist’s original. The painting selection for the boxes are: the current “Heartland Christmas”; “Home Again”; “Almost Home”; “Peace On Earth”; “Victorian Christmas” and “`Tis the Season.” and “ the Heart of Christmas.” The beautiful wood music boxes themselves measure 8 inches long by 6 inches wide by 2 ½ inches high.
